can't search my favorites for touhou

Posted under General

I tried to find a topic on this but couldn't so, sorry if it's been asked before.

When i try to search within my favorites for touhou, it just takes a long time and sends me back to the main page. This happens with some other tags that there are a lot of images for sometimes. I can kinda guess why it does that, but is there a way around this?

Same happens with me when I search tags in my favorites that I have a lot of. I've known of this bug for a couple of months now. It's just a case of having too many favorites. Although it's frustrating because I try to search some tags in my favorites in order to delete more. So there's that Catch-22.

You could always try limiting the results via something like the date metatag.

Searching for "fav:multi date:2008-1-1.. touhou" returns results fairly quickly.

EDIT: Scratch that. Searching "fav:multi date:2000-1-1.. touhou" does just as well and would cover all the posts. Hm...

You can't search for more than 2 tags anymore, doing so links you to the main page (and like you observed, doesn't tell you this sometimes). Stupidly, this includes metatags (like fav: and order:) which exist only to refine/order your search results and are useless if you can't use them along with tag searches.
You'll have to search for "fav:multi touhou" but they won't be in order which you favorited them (order:fav).

no, because I can search my favorites for other things. I already know I can only use two tags and I always omit order:fav when searching within my favorites for tags. However, touhou doesn't work, whereis other tags do.

ePlus, so it's just a bug right? No way to get around it?

As far as I know. I talked to him about it a couple of months ago and he said due to having so many results, it would time out. I didn't notice this awhile back but then again, I had less favorites then.

Ok...

So I'm the only one "fav:multi order:fav date:2000-1-1.. touhou" works for? Like you, I can't get "fav:multi order:fav touhou" to work, but adding in the date metatag with any date value appears to do something to that. Using that search on ePlus returned 225 pages of touhou favorites for me.

Here too. From the error message you get when it times out, it looks like it's not going to be using any index for the query. Obviously that'd be a bad idea on a DB with 300,000+ rows. Though I don't understand how adding the date metatag should change that.

Yeah. It seems Touhou is just too much to handle. I was trying to remember the name of a certain character, so I did the search "touhou blonde_hair wings hat" which, now that I think about it, really doesn't narrow things down very well. Anyways, that search consistently results in a "failbooru" result.

The likely culprit is the huge size of the touhou tag which makes the SQL join nasty. Joining on individual characters will give you a better chance.

But then why does adding the "date" metatag help, particularly if its range is such that it matches all posts on Danbooru? This is what's really puzzling.
