The discussion you're looking for was in topic #1327. Perhaps in hindsight, jxh should have aliased insect girl to bug girl rather than the other way around. I don't think anyone would be quite as bothered by spider girl implying bug girl (using the layman's definition of bug, not the scientific definition).
In any case, this issue is really just a technicality. Considering that we're talking about monster girls here, it's probably better to forget everything you know about real-world taxonomy. Spiders aren't insects, but they have more in common with insects than with spider girls.
