Rating changes on posts not showing up on tag history?

Posted under General

I just noticed that the rating on my post #388146 had been changed from explicit to safe. When I checked the tag history after correcting it, it showed it had not be changed. A possible database issue? I thought any edit to tags or ratings showed up in the tag history . . .

I've seen what loplopsama describes happened to at least two of my posts before. The rating got changed, yet there was no indication in the tag history about the changed rating. Curious as to how it happened, but I don't think I've noted it beyond those few instances.

I remember something like this happening before, only it was mysterious tag changes. It turned out that an admin had sort of 'deleted' a user's actions instead of reversing them. Maybe a related scenario?

You can change the rating without it being recorded if you use the 'Mode' menu (Rate Safe, Rate Questionable, Rate Explicit) and click on the thumbnail, rather than editing posts one-by-one. (It's possible people have done this by accident, see forum #3987.)

Also, regular members can't edit the tags on loli/shota posts but they can change the rating and source fields. Submitting those changes won't add an entry to the history either.

I assume this is by design. It's probably better if you don't spam the tag history with a bunch of no-tags-changed entries.

Oh, one more way: if you add "rating:s" to the tags of a questionable post, the rating is changed to safe, but that line of the tag history still records the rating as "q".

Ah, I guess that's it then. I saw both of those things happening. Now I know why...
