[APPROVED] Tag implication: fatal_frame_1 -> fatal_frame

Posted under Tags

The tag implication #9358 fatal_frame_1 -> fatal_frame is pending approval.

Edit to add links to the related requests:

implication #9357 fatal_frame_2 -> fatal_frame
implication #9359 fatal_frame_3 -> fatal_frame
implication #9360 fatal_frame_4 -> fatal_frame
implication #9361 fatal_frame_5 -> fatal_frame
implication #9362 fatal_frame_purple_diary -> fatal_frame

Sorry for the topic spam!

I realize I ought to have created a BUR, but I'm told that doing so now might create a conflict.

EDIT: The tag implication fatal_frame_1 -> fatal_frame (forum #160548) has been approved by @Hillside_Moose.

@SoSD The first installment of the series wasn't called "Fatal Frame 1", it was just "Fatal Frame". If we're going to have a tag for the franchise as a whole (which I generally support), it should be fatal_frame_(series), not fatal_frame. Likewise, fatal_frame_1 should probably be fatal_frame_(game) for consistency with the usual video game tagging convention.

Also, would it kill you to put all these implication requests in a single BUR? Spamming up the forum with a ton of individual threads like this is not the way users of your rank do things.

Then what about tags like wild arms 1, tokimeki memorial 1, gyakuten saiban 1 and so on? Are you saying all of those copyright tags should be unimplied and moved to *_(game/anime) tags? I don't see a problem with fatal frame 1 representing the first game of the series when we do the same thing for other titles.

But I have to agree with requesting in a single BUR, SoSD. All of these requests clog up the forums and push relevant topics down when users don't want that to happen.

@iridescent_slime Initially I thought fatal_frame was the tag for the original game and was going to request a fatal_frame_(series) implication but then I noticed there was a specific fatal_frame_1 tag as well.

I honestly don't have any personal preference between fatal_frame and fatal_frame_(series) but from what I could see it seemed like fatal_frame was already sort of being used as a generic tag, so I went with that.

Finally, I apologize regarding the topic spam; it's been years since I last requested an implication and I had forgotten about the BUR function.

I based that suggestion on the sheer number of *_(game) tags, which vastly outnumber the *_1 tags.

@iridescent_slime The *_(game) tags seems to be used for games that are standalone, rather than part of a series. If there is more than one game that uses a numbered sequence, then (series)_1 would be used to specify characters and/or events that are exclusive to that particular game.

Heck, even Final Fantasy I follows the same principle, even though in reality there actually is no such thing as Final Fantasy I (if we're strictly talking about the very first game for the NES, and exclude ports) - it's just called Final Fantasy.

Did all of them, save fatal_frame_purple_diary. I googled it to make sure the name's correct, but I can't seem to find the game at all.

I looked in to this and it seems like the purple diary name may be based on the Pixiv tag 紫の日記 rather than the actual game title. The actual game appears to be the 3DS game Spirit Camera or 心霊カメラ 〜憑いてる手帳〜 in Japanese.

However, there are only five images in the fatal_frame_purple_diary tag and so perhaps there's no need to add this implication.
