Well, if it's misused, then sure.

We'll rename it something else or revert the alias if animal_sex proves to be problematic (e.g. being confused for bestiality, as you mentioned).

Mating is seldom misused because it's seldom used in the first place. I think you'd be trading the once-a-quarter misuse of mating for a once-a-week misuse with animal sex.

Agreed. Using animal_sex would ensure that sex receives fewer mistags, but only because they would migrate to the bestiality tag. I would support a different tag, like maybe sex_between_animals or mating_(animal).

Whatever is fine for me, as long as we pick a different term from what's being used now. "mating" is often used in hentai as a generic slang for sex.

I'm not a fan of qualifiers like these, but if that's what you guys want then...

Tbh I didn't even know that there is this kind of tag (or only saw it once). I don't care what we do, but there should be an utility alias like "animal_mating" or "sex_between_animals". Maybe not the first, because of the same reason mentioned above.

I guess animal mating wouldn't be a better name for the tag.

I don't think renaming the tag is necessary, as it's a small tag that's seemingly not being abused that much. I wouldn't mind a utility alias if people are having trouble finding it, though.

There were 3 correct and 4 wrong posts under that tag in 2021, so even if it barely gets any posts, the name is definitely not helping in its usage.

One of those mistags was a 2020 mistag that was fixed in 2021. One of them was a copy/paste job. Neither would have been saved by the name.
