Tag Alias: tako_(pixiv397580)

Um... why "tako_(artist)" when there's already another artist-casted tako? With two different artists named tako (as opposed to one referring to something that isn't an artist), shouldn't the qualifier be something else, like "tako_(sunday-seven)" (from the pixiv filename)? That's what I ended up doing for sugi_(syouhusya), though I'm not sure why the "sunday-seven" part would be better than "pixiv397580"...

Not sure why an alias is needed when there's only three posts associated with it, either.

A "howto:" or "about:" wiki page for pixiv and artist naming procedures would be nice.

The latter should be takotako60 anyway, because that's the name they go by on their blog. See http://takotako60.blog28.fc2.com/

Changed.

pixiv#### tags will ALWAYS get aliased when I see these requests, even if there's only one image, just so nobody can use it again. I kill those tags any chance I get.

Edit: it looks like there was more than one artist under the "tako" tag too. Urgh. Need to make sure and sort this out...

Edit2: Done. Most of what is under tako seems to be tako_(plastic_protein) while the one pixiv image from Saki is now takotako60 per their chosen name on their blog. Nothing is under "tako" now so I moved it to a 'general' tag. We probably shouldn't use something that generic for an artist tag.

What about my sugi_(syouhusya) tag? I took the "_(syouhusya)" part from their pixiv filename since there already exists a sugi artist. Was I correct in doing this? If so, what's the difference between adding "_(pixiv#####)" and adding "_([pixiv_filename])"? Or is it just that filenames are more memorable than numbers?

Yes, that's fine, though depending on the name, often the accountname can just be the tag itself, rather than having displayname_(accountname). But either is fine.

The problem with #### is that nobody will remember it, whereas a word/name works much better for that. It's just really bad tagging. People also have this nasty tendency to think it's supposed to be there, even when there's no conflict at all, or when the artist has a homepage with an official PN/HN, etc.

Why not? That's not new or unusual. Artists put their names in latin letters all the time.

Though it depends on what it is. If it doesn't clearly look to be a Japanese word, then it's not so important. I mean, if it were just "si" and nothing else I wouldn't necessarily say it has to be "shi". if it's "mak200" then it doesn't have to be "maku200". But for something like shoufusha/syouhusya, it's obvious there's something Japanese there.

Just use discretion. It wouldn't have been the end of the world if it has stayed syoufusya, but since it was noticed, it got changed. That's all. When it comes to account names in URLs and the like, the demand for re-romanizing without a kanji/kana backup is less pressing, but still exists to an extent.
