Can some artworks be too old to upload?

Posted under General

One of my favorite artists is Aosora_(Mizore), she is the artist for some classic online artworks, for example post #808934. I admire every single one of her Yume Nikki artworks and would like to see them all archived on Danbooru. And if i could i would, but post #6143680 was unapproved, so I am not sure if I should try to find other artworks and try to upload them or not. Maybe it's just a simple issue like not having a good link. But if not, it is what it is.

I personally don't think some art can be too old to upload, what matters more is whether the art itself looked good in the first place. The post you gave as an example, post #6143680, isn't bad per say, but it is on the slightly rougher side. Don't feel discouraged by the unapproval though, especially if your main goal is archival, because status:deleted posts don't get purged.

Like Damian said, if your goal is just to archive her artworks, you can post and let them go through the queue, they'll be archived even if deleted, alternatively you can just upload to Danbooru and leave the art as media assets.

I would say the quality of the post matches some of Aosora's other posts like post #1217789 and post #1326114. Which is why I thought this might be too old to upload, if it was uploaded a few years ago im sure it would have been approved. But regardless the post is still archived, you can see it easily in something like this favorite group. So I'm okay with it not being approved, and thanks for all the advice.

While the age of an image technically has no bearing on whether or not it'll get approved, the further back in time you go the lower the average post quality gets. A large percentage of posts even as recent as 4 or 5 years ago would have a much harder time getting approved today, simply because average quality standards have risen as average image quality has risen with the improvement of tools and experience. In a manner of speaking, they are too "old."

It's better to judge based on modern posts, rather than posts from 10 years ago when practically anything could get approved, which unfortunately means some images won't make the cut.
