Pikmin Tag Upkeep

rename pikmin -> pikmin_1
create implication olimin -> olimar
create alias pikmar -> olimin

I know I'm probably the only person doing much for pikmin (series) here right now, but I would like to make these small requests. pikmin as it currently stands is an utterly obnoxious tag, as most artists who use it are actually referring to pikmin (series) or the titular creatures of the games (but I made character tags for those), and not Pikmin as in the first game. If that were the case, they would tag it with Pikmin 1. As it currently stands, it makes the tag show up in the autotags with its series tag, even for images obviously not associated with the first game. So I feel it would be better to just rename it to Pikmin 1, since while game title inaccurate, it does make for much easier sorting since that way you won't get unrelated images accidentally ending up in what should be the copyright tag for the first game.

As for olimin, it's literally for versions of olimar post bad ending of the first game. It's a small tag right now (as in only one image tagged right now, though I do know post #2440468 is a parody of Pikmin 1's bad ending with Touhou characters, so I don't know), but I'm expecting this tag is going to be needed as I have no trouble finding artwork with that tag (as well as just being useful to have around). Olimin (and Pikmar) are admittedly fan nicknames for this alternate version of Olimar, so having them outright renamed if need be is always an option for it. But since I feel they work and communicate their purpose pretty well at the moment, I'd just alias Pikmar to Olimin (the more common of the two nicknames) and naturally imply it to Olimar.

Anyway, this is insanely lengthy for a bulk update request reason, but pikmin (series) is definitely on the nicher side of things here on Danbooru, so I hope you will consider my requests.

create alias red_bulborb -> bulborb
create alias bulbear -> spotty_bulbear

Same enemy. Red Bulborb is just the old name from before the design got rechristened to just Bulborb.

To be honest, the tagging on the bulborbs throughout this series is kinda giving me a headache. But as the most iconic (and therefore most frequently depicted) design is just called a Bulborb now, I figured just letting it have the main tag would do for now, as all the other variants have a qualifier right in their name to set them apart. There is probably a better solution out there, but since Pikmin as a copyright doesn't have even a thousand posts within it (with bulborb itself having only forty at the time of writing this), I think just a simple alias of an old enemy name to the more up to date one will work for now.

EDIT: Turns out the tags for the bulbear variety are a similar mess (albeit to a much smaller scale) with the exact same case, so I figured I ought to go ahead and add them onto this BUR too while I'm at it. I can be talked into flipping that one though, but it seems Spotty Bulbear is the official name for it.

mass update red_pikmin -pikmin_(creature) -> pikmin_(creature)
mass update blue_pikmin -pikmin_(creature) -> pikmin_(creature)
mass update yellow_pikmin -pikmin_(creature) -> pikmin_(creature)
mass update white_pikmin -pikmin_(creature) -> pikmin_(creature)
mass update purple_pikmin -pikmin_(creature) -> pikmin_(creature)
mass update rock_pikmin -pikmin_(creature) -> pikmin_(creature)
mass update winged_pikmin -pikmin_(creature) -> pikmin_(creature)
mass update ice_pikmin -pikmin_(creature) -> pikmin_(creature)
mass update glow_pikmin -pikmin_(creature) -> pikmin_(creature)
mass update bulbmin -pikmin_(creature) -> pikmin_(creature)
mass update mushroom_pikmin -pikmin_(creature) -> pikmin_(creature)

I can't set these up as implications - presumably because doing so would set a terrifying precedent with the Pokemon_(creature) tag, among others - but this is a pass-over with a bunch of common pikmin characters and particularly, the various pikmin subspecies with the tag pikmin_(creature)

I actually did try to implicate these a while back (on a separate thread because this was when I didn't know how threads worked), and it didn't go through (though I imagine the issue with the idea with pokemon (creature) didn't help) for a very simple reason: What about gijinkas? Those do not belong in the pikmin (creature) tag, and while there definitely isn't too many, I did find some if you scroll back enough. A mass update would run into a similar (if much less severe problem) of leaving gijinka images mistagged. What about those?

I'm hesitant to upvote for this reason. Everything else looks fine though (even if I don't know the exact issue here to warrant this).

Well, the issue is that you can't set a character tag to imply a non-character tag. the pikmin types are character types, the pikmin creature is a general tag. This is probably meant to prevent people, for example, assuming that every post with pikachu in it will show it's tail and thus you can imply pikachu with tail.

I don't see the gijinka thing as an issue, personally, as personifications of any specific type of pikmin are, by definition, personifications of the pikmin species in general, which the pikmin_(creature) tag is meant to imply - see the tag pikmin_(creature)_(cosplay). If you really hate it, though, you can go with lines like:
update red_pikmin -personification -> pikmin(creature)
and it'll skip properly-tagged gijinka pikmin. the - before a tag means it will only search for posts which don't have that tag.

To be fair, this was before the switch to general for the pikmin (creature) tag, for added context. It would've gone through had people thought it a good idea (which it wasn't and they didn't).

If you're gonna mass update these tags, that would be preferred. There aren't too many gijinka posts for Pikmin, but I'd rather they not end up tagged with something they shouldn't be. Otherwise, everything looks good.

create alias erma_shepherd -> shepherd_(pikmin)

When creating this tag, it seems I had fallen into the trap of "tagging full names for characters normally referred to by first/last name only both in-universe and out", as is the case here.

While this character is the only Pikmin character that does have two names, she is usually referred to as just "Shepherd", and most other places I see tends to refer to her as just that, considering her first name is such out of the way information, that upon reflection there is no point in having both names be her tag (and possibly make searching for her harder with this in mind).

So in conclusion, my bad. Unless anyone has an argument for keeping her tag as is?

BUR #19973 has been approved by @evazion.

create alias protagonist_(pikmin_4) -> rescue_officer_(pikmin)

This character, being one of those customizable player characters, is a hard name to pin down due to the lack of consistency between names for both canon and fanon, but I do believe most official sources use "Rescue Officer" as the default title/name for them.

I must admit I'm not entirely a hundred percent sure about this name change other than "Why the fuck are we using Protagonist (Pikmin 4)?", but "Rescue Officer" feels like the best choice in my mind. If anyone else has any suggestions, I'm all ears, but we do need to give this character a new name. Just "What?" is the question.

Removed this part and did it manually:

update pikmin_(creature) -> pikmin_(series)
update olimar -> pikmin_(series)
update louie_(pikmin) -> pikmin_(series)
update president_(pikmin) -> pikmin_(series)
update bulborb -> pikmin_(series)
update spotty_bulbear -> pikmin_(series)
update alph_(pikmin) -> pikmin_(series)
update brittany_(pikmin) -> pikmin_(series)
update charlie_(pikmin) -> pikmin_(series)
update protagonist_(pikmin_4) -> pikmin_4
update oatchi_(pikmin) -> pikmin_4

Also changed the rest from update red_pikmin -> pikmin_(creature) to update red_pikmin -pikmin_(creature) -> pikmin_(creature). It's better to do A -B -> B so that it only tries to add the tag where it's missing.
