BUR #21289 has been approved by @nonamethanks.

rename uss_enterprise -> uss_enterprise_(star_trek)
create implication uss_enterprise_ncc-1701 -> uss_enterprise_(star_trek)
create implication uss_enterprise_ncc-1701-a -> uss_enterprise_(star_trek)
create implication uss_enterprise_ncc-1701-b -> uss_enterprise_(star_trek)
create implication uss_enterprise_ncc-1701-d -> uss_enterprise_(star_trek)
create implication uss_enterprise_ncc-1701-e -> uss_enterprise_(star_trek)
deprecate uss_enterprise

The tag for the spaceship USS Enterprise from Star Trek lacks any qualifier, despite it's named after the American aircraft carrier of the same name. In addition, there are 5 "variant tags" of Star Trek's Enterprise made by the same user around 2015-16, all of which lacked any distinctive features to deserve to be tagged individually.

So I suppose we should give the main Enterprise tag a proper qualifier, then merge all of the unnecessary variant tags to the new tag, then deprecate "USS Enterprise" to prevent further confusion.

Edit: Update to implicate variants instead.

Updated

It seems the reason that the variants are seemingly identical here is because the art posted for them on danbooru is pretty much exclusively personifications that only keep a few design traits of the ship (particularly the nacelles and saucer) rather than art of the original spacecraft. I know Star Trek isn't even remotely a popular franchise on danbooru, but I'm against getting rid of the individual designation tags because each one is a completely different class of ship and from a different series. I'll break it down below for the ones that have tags here already:

NCC-1701 - Constitution class, main ship in Star Trek The Original Series (ship in post #3021959)
NCC-1707-A - Constitution II class, main ship in the TOS sequel films (ship in post #4773141)
NCC-1707-B - Excelsior class, minor appearance in Film 3 (only personification posted)
NCC-1707-D - Galaxy class, main ship in Star Trek: The Next Generation (mostly personifications posted, chibi ship appears in post #106591)
NCC-1707-E - Sovereign class, main ship in TNG's sequel films (only personification posted)

I agree with changing the umbrella tag to USS Enterprise (Star Trek) just not cutting the generation tags, but if it's too niche to keep tagged for danbooru purposes because of the franchise's non-presence here then so be it

The tag for Space Battleship Yamato currently covers all variants of the spaceship, some with relatively noticable differences (such as the one in Yamato 2520. But, since it's not as visually distinct as, say, Godzilla variants, that's why they didn't got their own variant tag as of yet.

So, if you wanna search for a specific variant of the Enterprise, you can search using the combined Enterprise tag + any Star Trek media tag instead.

There isn't currently a lot of posts with the various Star Trek enterprises so one could dig through the current set easy enough, but this proposal with the current tags would fail if there was a larger number of posts given the appearance of more than one variant of Enterprise per show. TOS would have the original, A, and B. TNG would have C, D, and E. Assuming you label a ship to the series of their first appearance, even if brief.

Well, if that was the case, I'll change the BUR to instead implicate the other Enterprise variants to the main tag instead.
