Good points! I hadn't thought of it like that. I saw also that there's a bandana around arm variant too, so it makes even more sense.
I'll leave the bur for a lil while longer but I'll cancel it if no one makes any other points over the next week or so
Also, in the vein of bandanas being worn on different parts of the body, does that make kerchiefs mean the exact same thing?
Different dictionaries are giving these meanings:
cambridge dict.
bandana: A brightly coloured piece of cloth that is worn around the neck or head
Kerchief: A square piece of cloth worn around the neck or on the head
Collins dict.
Bandana: A brightly-coloured piece of cloth which is worn around a person's neck or head.
Kerchief: A piece of cloth that you can wear on your head or round your neck
Also, we have the head scarf tag....This tag is used interchangeably with kerchiefs and bandanas. And most tagged 'head scarves' on danbooru look a lot different from other image search engines.
I also don't understand the point of tenugui. There is no way to identify that an object is depicting 'tenugui' - it's just a piece of patterned cloth.
