A lil' something. Just felt the need to creating some aliases for the Precure franchise.

So official shortened names like Magireco which are used as much as the full names by the fans are no good as utility aliases, but this is? Who even refers to Precure as "Pretty Cure" in 2025? Thanks for making it harder to search for Pretty Series, I guess.

To be frank here, I know a large majority of fans and casuals just call it by its shortened name "Precure" these days, but I mean, look at the wiki, it still refers to it as "Pretty Cure", so there's just no way to really argue against it, it is what it is.

It's not "what it is", it's an unnecessary alias that provides little searching benefit in practice since as you also admit, it's mostly unused nowadays, and it gets in the way for searching for another copyright tag on top of that. I don't see why what the wiki says is relevant here.

English logos will say otherwise, not that anyone really looks those up.
Also Pretty Series is still like top 3 of the autocomplete result if you search "pretty", you mean Pretty Rhythm?

And it used to be the first one, so it went down two positions for no real reason?? This is like if we had a Pocket Monsters alias for Pokemon, which is also the official name of the franchise and is mentioned in the wiki, yet it's not one for obvious reasons. Nothing against those who proposed the BUR or upvoted it, btw, I'm just mostly baffled that this one got accepted while other utility aliases with names that had actual usage among the fans got rejected.

I've been looking at precure tags and wondering why arent cure names implications of the real names in the show? Like for example why is Cure Happy not an implication of Hoshizora Miyuki, and so on? The cure is essentially linked to the real character anyway. Would it be fine to do that? The cure form is essentially a costume like a gacha alt. Whenever a cure is named on here, it's always accompanied by the name of the girl anyway aside from some cosplay scenarios, but even then the name should be there too.

I only ask because it seems so obvious but it might have been done before and rejected for some reason I havent thought of.

It's due to magical girl tagging rules generally being to keep them separate due to the magical girl forms not acting like their civilian forms.

...And also avoiding needing cosplay negations.

What does "not acting like their civilian forms" actually mean? I've heard that phrase verbatim before, but I can't make heads or tails of it. Is it refering to the magical forms looking so different that they might as well be separate characters if you don't know the context?

What are some examples? I dont know that many magical girl shows. I've watched Sailor Moon and watch Precure. The girls personalities in Sailor Moon change slightly I guess at times but Sailor Moon is still tagged with Tsukino Usagi. Precure characters never change personality between cure form and civilian form. Who is the basis for this rule then?

As for the cosplay tagging stuff, isnt it just pretty much the same. post #7974954 is Sukuna and Gojo cosplaying Cure Black and Cure White. Now if Cure forms were implication tags, this post would also be tagged with Misumi Nagisa and Yukishiro Honoka. After all, Cure Black and White are Nagisa and Honoka really.

Now post #6265813 is a character cosplaying as Toki's bunny alt in blue archive. It is definitely meant to be Toki's costume, so even the implication character tag of Toki is present.

The point is, is it just hard rule that magical girl forms are their own separate entity even though they dont seem to be treated as such by tagging here? I see them more as costumes. If they arent costumes, shouldnt we actually be not allowing civilian forms to be tagged in images where only cure form is drawn?

It's because they do not act like they are the same character as the civilian. They look and act like an entirely separate persona that is easy to disassociate with a given civilian. Every anime browser can name Sailor Moon, but only people who specialize into certain niches can probably name Tsukino Usagi without thinking too hard. The same can be said of Cure Happy versus Hoshizora Miyuki. People who aren't familiar with the series' themselves tend to just think of them as the magical girl, not as the civilian like actual fans tend to. Having them separated helps enforce that they are personas that can be worn by anyone (and Precure has had a case of that: Kiryuu Michiru and Kiryuu Kaoru, while small tags, tend to get tagged as Cure Bright and Cure Windy when they appear in those forms). This is why a lot of magical girl uploaders view implications as a cosplay nightmare waiting to happen.

It's also an extension of the similar rules on superheros, due to the fact that superheros often end up being fulfilled by different people wearing the same mantle (for example, the existence of Terry Mcginnis is why an implication of Batman to Bruce Wayne or vice versa doesn't work).

The fact is people don't see the magical girl forms as just costumes. They see them as entirely separate people to their civilian self. If they were just costumes to the vast majority of magical girl fans (which you yourself state you are not), you wouldn't be seeing a crazy lot of pushback every single time an attempt to change the status quo for Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon or Precure identities is attempted.

Do you know of the other thread where this was discussed? Cause I would like to read the pushback regarding this. I can only speak for a few series like precure but the change in personality between cure and civilian forms is nonexistent.

As for the batman example, it's actually probably Bruce Wayne and Terry Mcginnis that should be implications of Batman considering at their core, that is all they are and where they spend 99% of their screen time in their properties. Case in point that specifically if you look at every non-cosplay precure art on danbooru, the civilian for is always tagged with the cure form if the art is of cure form. post #6324436 for example is a mess but there are many like it because people see the cure form as extension of the civilian form. When to comes to Clark Kent or Bruce Wayne, that doesnt really exist cause we see those personas so infrequently. People just dont go out of the way to tag them both like they do with precure or sailor moon. So why not just garden away all the civilian name tags in art that they dont appear in?
