I uploaded post #8437740 before. Now I find that there are only these words. What is this? what caused it? and what to do with it?

Posts are banned when the artist themself asks for the specific work to be taken down. To do this, they must submit a valid DMCA takedown request. They may only request some of their works to be banned, but posts from that artist will be more likely to be removed, so keep that in mind if you upload more works from that artist in the future.
If the artist is on the banned artist list, the post will be banned automatically.
The only way a post can get unbanned is if the artist gives us permission to host it.
The only other reason a post would be banned is if it contained something like real-life porn, and that's probably just a stopgap measure since only admins are able to permanently delete assets.
There's also paid rewards, those are automatically taken down as well.

I thought that had to be done manually. But yes, those are also banned if they were uploaded after July 6, 2020.

Like banned artist, paid reward will also automatically set a post's status to banned but only if it's uploaded with the tag. If not, it has to be banned manually - and there's where the post ban request thread comes into play.

I'm sure it doesn't fall into either of those categories, so it can only be said that the artist requested that it be removed, right?

Add -status:banned to your search.
I +1 you for this in spirit. Exactly what I hit the forums to ask. Was cycling through a character tag I haven't checked in a while and suddenly BAM stopped dead in my tracks.
Must suck for people limited to 2 tags though, getting one eaten up just to make their easy browse go smoothly.
So thanks for the answer.

Actually, status is one of the metatags that don't count towards tag counts. So that's not even a problem :p
