BUR #39883 has been rejected.
create alias constantinople -> istanbul
I don't know why there's two wiki pages for Constantinople / Istanbul when it's referring to the same city. I know about the naming issue of the city, but given that modern sources nowadays refers to the city as "Istanbul", I see no reason why we should keep it separate.
I can only assume it's attempting to tag the Byzantine city as opposed to the Ottoman/Turkish city, but one would've already been able to do that by doing istanbul byzantine_empire, istanbul ottoman_empire, and istanbul turkey_(country).

I was not aware of the BUR, apologies.
I would also like to point out that Istanbul was previously tagged on some of the images, but one user went out of their way to replace them with the Constantinople tag instead.
It's Istanbul (Not Constantinople), why'd they change it? I can't say, people just liked it better that way.
Joking aside for cities and historic names I'd prefer a single tag for an all encompassing search. As stated we have more specific time peiod tags people can amend to searches.
Even old New York was once New Amsterdam. Why did Constantinople get the works? It's nobody's business but the Turks'.
TMBG stuck in my head aside, yeah these should be merged. Fall of Constantinople is another good tag to use for searches relating to this city.
