NBA -> national_basketball_association alias

We tend not to use acronyms as the main tag name as far as I'm aware - if you wanted this behaviour, it'd be better to have "NBA" as a utility alias (as in, nba -> national_basketball_association).

Again, try typing /nba into the search box. National Basketball Association will show up as the fifth or so (eta: 8th) result. You can use similar slash shortcuts for other tags as well, see help:cheatsheet - Abbreviations

The other half of this equation is that this is an anime-centric imageboard. We don't really need utility aliases for real-world sportsball organizations.

I'm in favor of aliasing NBA to National Basketball Association. NBA is established well enough to be well understood to be for the National Basketball Association over many other organizations in various places around the world.

Is the NBA mentioned in any basketball anime? It probably would be, right? I voted meh but I think this would be the one case where you would unambiguously know what you're getting if you search for the tag so it'd be fine to have. These are the kinds of cases where exceptions are made and we give the alias to that well known thing. "NBA" as an acronym is unlikely to be confused by anything else. I did forget about that precedent we have.

This would only apply to shorthand autocomplete searches which I'm not even sure the average user knows how to use. If you type "NB" it would autocomplete to NBA. If you type in "NBA" and hit enter it would show you the results of National Basketball Association due to the alias, much like how if you type wink and hit enter it will show you the results of one eye closed (and similarly, tagging any post as wink will add one eye closed instead).
