Good catch. Now the question is if it's in the public interest to have an umbrella tag covering all currency signs (dollar sign, euro sign...)
If this passes, a (hand) "gesture" would not be confused with a (currency) "sign"

you'd have my support. i was even looking for a tag like that while trying to fix the post (e.g. currency_symbol).

Yeah, I agree it would be a useful tag.
money sign should then be deprecated and a wiki written to differentiate between the gesture and the symbol.
