qol: show duplicate post id(s) on uploaded asset list

Posted under Bugs & Features

i'm just another longtime lurker, semi-recent account holder and now poster, aiming to upgrade in the only way we've had for years--keep pumping out uploads and tag updates until (a) senpai notices.
i happened upon a very large multi-image pixiv post to begin chipping away at, some images of which were already posted to danbooru and some are yet to be posted.
the way it is now, i have to click into "my uploads", then into the giant pixiv post, then click into image by image that i haven't personally posted to see whether or not someone else beat me to it by way of the red "duplicate" chip by the source information.
i'd like to see the image element updated to show the post ids of images that were already posted by *anyone*, and, optionally, who posted it.
it's also be nice to have the "posted" and "unposted" tabs also match this updated behaviour.

I get why you might want something like this, but implementing such a feature would produce a lot of false positives. "Duplicate" warning on the upload page merely means that IQDB found an existing post on the site with similarity of 70% or higher and often superior versions of existing posts, images with differences or completely unrelated images even will be marked as a duplicate. Basically, you always have to manually compare your asset and the existing post to know if it really is a duplicate or not. Using one of the images from the Splatoon log you've uploaded from as an example, the upload page says that asset #25963136 is a duplicate of post #7991876, but it's actually higher resolution, so you can upload it and set the existing post as a child since it's superior.

I will say that assets uploaded from the exact same source with the exact same data will show up as being already posted even if someone else other than you did it, iirc. At the very least when I try to upload something from FGO that already was uploaded from atlas academy it spits me right out to the existing post.

what would i do with the duplicate tag in the case where my supposed dupe is superior to the existing post?

The duplicate tag doesn't apply if your post is a superior version to an existing image, it is only used if the post is inferior to an existing version

Nothing. duplicate is for same-or-inferior versions posted later. If your version is superior or posted earlier, the tag does not apply. The warning on the upload page is because it can't know whether it's superior or not, you have to decide that yourself.
