femboy idol

It's finally here. The Ylime builder meltdown. Fate has killed the Ylime. I've been waiting for this since I first started seeing your name.

Could probably just leave it alone if you mean to suggest it should be changed in the wake of topic... whatever the number is, I hid it from my view with the CSS NNT gave me.

the disparity between me emotionlessly staring at pages of astolfo porn trying to determine what official alternate costume he's wearing versus me working at summer camp for kids for 7-odd hours broke something in me probably. also lack of sleep

but yes its me putting the idea of terminology parity out there. i dont particularly agree with how that BUR turned out but if we're going for it this is a tag that should be moved to match (for people who can't recognize kanji as easily, the 男の娘 in 男の娘アイドル is otokonoko, punny version)

Is there any justification for the tag being named that, like an official translation anywhere, or did the tag creator just decide it on their own? We were obviously using "otoko no ko" when the tag was made, so I'm not sure why they would go with the term we aliased to it instead of that.

Personally I'd be fine with just using otokonoko here if that's what people wanted. I'm still not entirely convinced otokonoko and femboy should be aliased to trap, and I don't know if trap is really the best choice for this tag just because that's what we're using for a different tag that covers a similar concept.

As far as I know there are no official translations for the april fools 2015 scenario proper, with the closest we got being the continued YARIO references in FGO being translated as Backspear Boys. Tag was created in 2022 by @Benit149, though it does seem to be mistagged on some posts that are just "astolfo in a school swimsuit".

Backspear Boys.

Is that supposed to sound as dirty as it does...?

I guess I would just defer to whatever, if anything, the Fate community has been unofficially calling it. Otherwise I can't say it feels all that important to me. If someone who cares really wants it to be called something in particular I'm not gonna argue with them.

The fan wiki uses the literal translation "male girl idol" and links to the Wikipedia page for otokonoko. It doesn't seem like it's notable enough overseas for this translation to be used much, though. The artists themselves are mostly ignoring the idol event and calling it "swimsuit Astolfo".

I'd go with otokonoko, but it would probably be best to wait until the dust settles with the other BURs before revisiting this one.
