Amplifiers Brands/Models

Marshall Amplification is the name of the company and they make more than amps, I'm also of the opinion that orange_amplifiers doesn't need to be changed because it's specific enough that only people who are aware of Orange (the company) would add or search for it.

This is about amplifiers though so marshall_amplifier is especially about amplifiers from the company. But maybe it should be named marshall_amplification_amplifier? I'm not sure about the Orange amps but you are probably right.

When it comes to brands and specific products, I think it's more consistent with other Danbooru tags if we instead use brand names as tags, not brand_amplifier.

For example, we have Samsung instead of samsung_cellphone or samsung_television, and we have Volvo instead of volvo_car or volvo_truck. We also have specific model tags like Samsung Galaxy S24 and Volvo FH so if we wish to have specific amp model tags we can, like how Fender has guitar model tags.

For brands like Marshall and Fender, you'll find them on many types of devices, and the advantage of having brand name tags is that you can combine marshall tag with amplifier or speaker, which is tidy when tagging and searching.

As of currently, tag Orange Amplifiers refers to the brand Orange Amps, but I'm not sure if the company has officially clarified whether "amps" stands for "amplifiers", or "amplifications" as used here. I'm inclined to believe "Orange Amps" is the full official name.

Marshall Amplification is recognized as the full name of the company though, see Twitter and Instagram. I think it's fine to keep using this name even for products that are not amplifiers.

Following Fender's example we can consider making the Orange and Marshall tags copyrights.

I'm going to create a BUR below accordingly and we can vote to decide the preferred practice.

BUR #47486 has been rejected.

mass update fender_amplifier -> fender_musical_instruments_corporation amplifier
create alias fender_amplifier -> fender_musical_instruments_corporation
create alias orange_amplifiers -> orange_amps

I've realized that according to howto:copyright, trademarks that do not have characters associated with them should not be categorized as copyright, so I'm submitting this BUR without the categorize lines.

These company names are real mouthfuls. Nintendo is officially "Nintendo Co., Ltd" and Samsung is officially "Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd." but we just call them Nintendo and Samsung. Even Wikipedia calls it "Fender (company)" instead of Fender Musical Instruments Corporation.

Fender amplifier seems to be an umbrella tag for their whole product line of amplifiers, in lieu of tagging each model individually which I guess is hard to do because they're hard to identify in fanart. I don't see a problem with that.
