Personal artwork

Posted under General

Is it just me, or are more people trying to upload their own personal artwork on danbooru lately? I mean, I dunno what the guidelines are about that thing is or anything. Sometimes they're not terrible, at least, they're not any worse than some of the things that get approved, but shouldn't that sort of thing go to something like deviantart instead? What's sad are the obvious personal artworks that are just copies that modify an original, existing image, that get approved. But that's just the anal retentive artist empathizer in me speaking.

It's sort of an unwritten rule that you shouldn't upload your own work. I don't really enforce it, so if the image is good enough it's good enough, but most of the time it's pretty obvious when this is happening and the quality isn't up to danbooru standards, and that is why that guideline exists in the first place.

If you have any examples of stolen works, do link them. I hate when artists do that.

Well, i've seen some uploads where I can't say I have proof it's stolen, but it's really obvious when someone's traced/copied an image and modified it as opposed to having drawn an original picture. There were some images on here the other day like that. If you compare the style of the hair and eyes to some of their other images, they're completely different, and the body anatomy and clothing. A big indicator is in one image the hands were drawn horrendously and in another they're done ok. Hands are pretty hard to draw if you can't do it in the first place, even if you're copying them.

I personally would hate to see them approved, but it's not my place to really single people out and tattle on them.
