Tagging photo/portrait_(object)

Should tags be added for characters in things like photo_(object), portrait_(object) etc. ?

I'm guessing for images where the photo is the only thing in the image it would be best to tag the characters (like post #1274839 or post #1271208).
When it isn't (like post #1200650 or post #1257552), should everything in the photo also be tagged?

For characters, I'd say yes.

Since we don't use the *_(cameo) tags - at least I think we decided to nuke them at some point - there's no reason no to tag them.

What I meant was the general tags for characters.
Like adding |_|, double_bun & gym_uniform to post #1257552 as that is what is shown on the photos.

There is also photos like in post #1151871, which although don't have any taggable characters, have a huge amount of general tags.

To basically rephrase the question, should photos (or similar) within images have everything tagged in them, or just the character tags?

Ask yourself this: If I were searching for double_buns or whatnot, would I want this image to appear in my search, or would I get annoyed by the extra noise it brings?

With post #1257552, I would tag double_bun, though due to the dakimakura and not the photos (as well as akaza_akari since she's clearly the subject of masturbation). I would not tag gym_uniform because it's in a small and undetailed photo.

post #1151871 you could tag cherry_blossom, bridge, and flower because they're obvious from the painting. Anything smaller than that would be noise though.

I would apply the same "is is significant enough to be noticeable?" self-check I always try to do when tagging. But there's no rule. Different people have different thresholds of what counts as "signifciant".
