If you just want to check a user profile and know his nickname, you can do a user:name, click on one of his uploaded pics, then click his name under the 'Uploaded by ----'. Or you can go to the user list under 'More »'.

I'll second that. IIRC, in the past, clicking a user's name under Note (or Tag) History led to their personal note (or tag) history page rather than their profile, but this seems to have been changed to the more standard behavior of linking to the profile, from which the other pages can easily be found. The case of favorites should be the same, IMO.

I find snesso's workaround to be pretty efficient. If a user has no uploads, his profile usually isn't worth looking at anyway.
But yea...I agree that everything should link to a user's profile page.
I thought something was strange. It links to the user page when you click on a name in the Favorited by list, however, if you add or remove yourself from a favorites list then the names link instead to user:user like they used to.
Also, in http://danbooru.donmai.us/comment the name of the user who posted the pic still links to user:user, though that one isn't a big deal.
