In the "first edition" of this comic, the panda turned out to actually be an artist self-insert that ended up traumatizing a decent portion of the reader-base. This proves that to at least currently not be the case in this version.

Didn't that one have artist comments saying it was non-canon? There was definitely something to that effect in the danbooru comments.

Regardless of canon-ness, it was still there and mind-bending. :P I think Krugger meant that the mystery of whether this one would go the same way was solved. But I dunno, I'm not him.

Well in my recent use of it it's rather reliable
