Simple style is no excuse: bad craftsmanship is always bad craftsmanship. I'm tired of crappy drawings getting special treatment just because they're Touhou related (over 13 years ago)

Too be honest, I don't see why this needs to be flagged. Its not offensively bad.

That attitude is a real problem around here now-a-days. Danbooru is not for art that's "not offensively bad" it's for good art.

Also it's pretty sad that people can't tell the difference between stylistic decision and inability to do any better. Spoilers, this is the latter.

But "good art" is still purely subjective, so I (or anyone else) have every right to call it "good".

Look at the image related to this. Compare. Note the difference in detail. Im not saying he's a Picasso but your baseless hate on it is a bit uncalled for considering this is rather poor compared to what came first. It was likely a quick scribble.

Sure, but your defense wasn't even that it was good. It was "it isn't that bad", which is totally antithetical to what Danbooru is about.

What difference? Some knives and sweatdrops? Looks to me like the shading, proportions, coloring, and expressions are all of the exact same quality on both. Also my hate is hardly baseless, I've seen nearly 100 images by this guy, so unless he's holding back his ultimate power I think my hate is built on a pretty firm foundation.

Whereas this is not much more than a scribble the other looks like he actually took a moment to look at where he was moving whatever he used to draw it

I hate to say it, because it sounds like I'm coming down on Danbooru when I'm not, but this really isn't a site just for "good art." Not only is that term massively subjective and wildly varying from person to person, but that means there are a lot of tags, low-resolution pictures, sketches, badly-proportioned character art, memes, fetish works, screenshots, GIFs, Flash animations, and comics that need to be removed post-haste. If Danbooru was restricted to "good art," then tags like "jpeg_artifacts" and "errors" wouldn't exist because the images that warranted such tags would be deleted immediately.

Danbooru is pretty much what its community makes of it, and in all its years, that certainly hasn't been a site for strictly "good art" (or non-photos, or Japanese artwork, or whatever other thing anyone claims this site is "strictly" about). It's...pretty much always boiled down to "stuff its users like," subjective or objective quality be damned save for especially grievous examples (of which this particular image is not).

You are mixing me up with someone else.

And as Nagi said: Danbooru isn't about "good art", it's about "neat art that we, collectively, like".

And yet, this argument is taking place on an image that has a score of -1 and has yet to be rescued by a mod or janitor...
As to Danbooru having so many error and such posts, that's one reason I wish we had more janitors and no contributors...but then we'd be even more facist, I suppose.

I vote let both of them die. score:-1 is hardly the worst thing in the world, but if so many have a problem with it, it obviously doesn't belong.

You're all the same person to me. Just switch some pronouns around, my core argument is still the same.

There is a lot of stuff that needs to be removed, but you're confusing good with perfect.

Sure, if by community you mean the 400 (maybe) people who ever do/have done anything meaningful around here. Even then every post, even ones are Contributer+ as they can be flagged, are only here at the whim of a few dozen people, all of who are picked because they're believed to have generally high standards. Also they only have such authority because of one person, the guy who says what can and can't be on here.

At any rate this is totally missing my point. I'm not upset that people are uploading junk, that's gonna happen and I've learned to live with it, I'm upset that people are uploading/defending stuff that they don't even think is good. I think that's a more toxic attitude to be present on Danbooru than people who think junk like this is good.

If every post of his/her that is flagged results in an argument like this, you're just asking for the artist to call albert and have his/her art removed. I don't want this to turn into a situation like we've had with littleshrimp.

Last shitstorm involving lunarisaileron's art ended with the artist coming here and asking that the pictures uploaded without his knowledge were removed.

Awesome counter-argument. I am a Janitor here though, so of course I'm elitist.

He only asked for one specific line of comics to be deleted, and I don't believe it had to do with any shit storm. He was pretty brief though, so I can't say for sure.

It was during a shitstorm (EDIT: on post #1006041). I felt bad because I had dissed the art pretty hard so I sent him a note via dA saying him to keep improving and don't feel down with the elitism here. I still wish he improved faster, since people keep posting more and more of it.

So, this artist is from pixiv (the source) or dA?

If this is just "a quick scribble", it hardly merits keeping, no?

Because that Panda Meiling is pretty phoned-in.

Unrelated to the flagging stuff: Incidentally, is "2girls" really applicable to images like this?

been there, look there (Both Pix & dA). And yes, there are dire differences between bad art and "unique" style. (>Look @ Genocide Kitten)

So, yeah. Sorry, gotta agree with mods (and flaggers) this time m(_ _)m
