Hmm... now I wonder what's going on here.
I think I recognize the guy in the last panel, though I can't say where exactly since his colour scheme is different from the main character so far.
Anyway, he almost seems to be doing a fist-pump in the air, so is it that he was merely looking for an excuse to be among the "nurses"?

I think this is meant to be backstory for our protagonist, but honestly I don't quite get it.

Technically, Cyborgs ARE people, just with mechanical replacements. The story talks about "cyborg ratios" as well. It's only robots/androids that are machine straight from the get-go.

Robots are easier to draw than people - they require less details, and you aren't functionally trained from birth to notice the small defects in the way that facial features are arranged on a machine.
