    I think the problem is they announced GenVI not so long after BW2 (one year span), which will lead BW2 to instant oblivion (and honestly I think BW2 is not very memorable).
    And the hype for XY also covered the hype for N and Cheren appearance in the anime. No wonder they're extremely mad.

    The timeline for each gen goes like this
    1996 > 1999 > 2002 > 2004 > 2006 > 2009 > 2010 > 2012 > 2013
    RGBY > .GSC > .RSE > FRLG > DPPt > HGSS > .BW. > .BW2 > XY
    Gen1 > Gen2 > .....Gen3..... > .....Gen4..... > .....Gen5..... > Gen6

    Since people were expecting RSE remake in Gen 5 (which is pretty plausible, considering that GSC took 10 years to get HGSS), I think Gamefreak really rushed XY.

It feels like I barely got my White 2 version (got it in late November) and had begun to settle into it when X/Y got announced. It sorta feels like all my work into training a new team will go to waste if the new gen makes drastic changes to game mechanics. I would have been perfectly happy with the new Gen coming out in 2014 instead.

    It might be good to note months as well as years. If i remember correctly, the difference between red/green and gold/silver was 3 years and 8 months, making it almost 4 years.
    Gen 5 has been as short as gen 2 which was kinda an expansion pack for gen 1 anyways and it has been way shorter in the west (B/W came out on March 2011 here). It's also the generation with the least spin-off games and the first one without a stadium-like game.

    Also Dynasty Warriors Syndrome as you get a game get far in it and then you hear Empires/XL is out.

    I think they might have did that just to have something on the 3ds, not the first time it's happened and if it actually works out, that'd be a major note as more early game rush projects aren't that great compared to their better time brothers (compare DMC4 with DMC3)
