Presuming we hold close to canon, since this artist doesn't seem to have much interest in Yuki at all, she just sits in her apartment and reads to herself until the end of freakin' time while "observing" Kyon and Haruhi.

Very definitely related, if only for the meme of a child's first errand and its attributed significance. (Similar to a chapter of Yotsuba &!, snippets from Kara'agetarou's "Myon Myon Typhoon", etc., just to name a couple off the top of my head.)

Fun tidbit for the readers who can't read Japanese, similar to how the names Kyonta and Koharu have elements of their parents' names, The second kanji of Miki's name is the same as the second kanji of Itsuki.

This strip is no less than the Crisis of Infinite Earths of the Kandachi canon, as it ratifies the formerly suspected existence of other SOS Brigade members in this universe.

I don't mean to diminish Kandachi's contributions by comparing him/her work to DC Comics', of course.
