With that particular design, the best decision is to be on its ass. Its guns are mounted so high, that quite frankly the safest place to be is right next to it.
One problem with this picture. I think the 11 inch gun turret that was to be used on the Ratte was welded, not rivetted. The German captial ships with 11 inch guns used a lot of welding to save weight.
