Can someone explain to me what those boxes on her hips are supposed to be?

Unfamiliar with the character, also curious about this.

Blade magazines. They house spare blades for her swords in case they shatter during combat, which is often in this series.

It's called a 3D Gear. That's what they use to move around like Spiderman.
