Yes, he maybe. Yet he is an insane mass murdering bandit killer. While Zer0 is a fine tune killing machine. Each their own badassness.

Krieg is more fun IMO, and certainly he can absorb more damage than Zer0 can. On the other hand, it feels awesome to chain-kill with Zer0.

For me, it goes Zer0 = Krieg, Maya, Gaige, Axton, Salvador (I couldn't be bothered to get him past level 11 currently). I have all but Salvador at level 61 in UVHM. I use an Evisceration Rubi and Love Thumper combo BTW.
