Or the tree, going by the fact that the branch has been cut and the sword blade is stuck in it.

If you look, the tree above Youmu has its branch cut and her sword is embedded in its trunk. So, Reisen hypnotized Youmu into thinking the tree was her real body.

I really wonder why Reisen is doing this.

It's a fun break from regular Touhou.

And here I thought that Youmu delivered as a kind of justice but owned too? What kind of regen ability Reisen has there? She sure healed fast after his arm chopped off and get pierced through stomatch.

That would be the logical assumption here. No magical regeneration or anything going on, just Reisen using her abilities with razor sharp precision.

The most original and fitting pairing since Microsoft and video games! Except it's not. Touhou is one of the least serious games ever.

Well I was tired of that crappy pairing anyway. Thank god. Reisen's such a better character without Youmu as her ball and chain.

So the story is someone brought a sword to a gunfight…?
