One of my favourites, and I worked very hard on it. I never liked drawing standard heroine pictures of Nausicaä looking cheerful. I couldn't draw her disconnected from the story. Nausicaä looking out of the picture and smiling just seemed wrong to me. When she's alone, I always imagined her looking very unapproachable. Not because she was intimidating, but because of a quiet isolation, like she wasn't part of her surroundings at all.

Did you read the original manga? There you can see exactly that, as time and the story goes on, she becomes very lonely. It's like with Paul Atreides in the Dune Sci-Fi Novels. As they become more and more "messiah" like, they get separated from their sorrounding.

What do you mean worked on, i have this as a poster , that i got from the 5th volume of the original manga
