Not all of them. My verbal Japanese is good enough to tell me that some of those went out with a smile...or at least at peace with their imminent demise. Others though...yeah, very much so.

The game characters actually makes references to their IRL fate. For example, Akagi's dying message is "please scuttle me with a torpedo volley". That's exactly how she was sunk in real life (by four friendly torpedoes).

Ok seriously, someone please answer this question: What is this game about?

All I can tell is that there are girls who are dressed as WW2 era Japanese warships fighting other girls who look like they are monsters.

But I do not understand what is going on.
