Well, there's the assumption that Aura is more "mana" than a "force field" and how it's used varies from person to person, which shouldn't be far-fetched, cuz there's no other explanation for Yang's innate abilities right now. Heck, if Monty has magic termed as dust, then it should be the same deal with Aura.

Dust is probably borrowed from Golden Compass. There's it's basically the foundation of thoughts and souls, as well as being a quasi-magic form of anti-matter inherent in all sentient beings. That seems to coi-incide nicely with how aura is used in RWBY as the soul and a source of mystical energy. So, yeah, I imagine we can expect some expansion of the dust concept.
