Of course ZUN can do what he wants, but I don't know why he couldn't write a profile for SoPM or have her in Ten Desires like he thought about (not that I care anymore since I like Mamizou), but just omit information about her and base her appearances only on what's commonly known about her in canon.

In the latest chapters of WaHH is also revealed that she has also some sort of weakness to mamezaki (the bean-throwing ritual of setsubun), that is the same weakness oni (and vampires in Gensokyo) have. Although according to herself it's only a "psychological weakness" (her body would start to shake if beans are thrown at her), Komachi also laughs her ass off only by thinking about Kasen participating at setsubun, saying that it would be ridiculous. For what we know, I think we can be 99.9% sure that Kasen is an oni, or at least WAS an oni (she could have changed her original nature by becoming something else). The other 0.1% is ZUN and Aya Azuma trolling us.
