You know, with OR/AS redesigning basically everyone (for the better, I feel) I've been thinking about the old uproar over this right here. It's a simple fact that for a long time the games really told us jack-all about anyone's personality, and people made a lot of big assumptions. I just feel like everyone has the game incarnation all wrong because they were too busy ranting to stop and think, too attached to their preconceptions to understand what I feel is actually the most interesting version. (Though I admit I'm only passingly familiar with the manga, never quite got into it.)

Probably not what the artist intended me to be thinking about right now, huh?

To be fair, you could also look to the Pokemon Anime if you really wanted...

It's hard to imagine the Sabrina of then (even after the arc) becoming the Sabrina of now.

I know that it is in no way canon, but I remember when I was very young and Pokemon was relatively new (I'm guessing roughly 13 or 14 years ago), I owned this cheesey off shoot manga called "The Electric Tales of Pikachu". This comic followed the anime quite loosely, but one thing that I really remember about it is Sabrina. In this comic, which featured (if I remember correctly) a massive Haunter that was using Dream Eater on innocent Pokemon, Sabrina was portrayed as outgoing, brave, kind, and even heroic, a complete polar opposite of what the anime showed her to be. She looked more like a typical Pokemon character than her uniquely cold and dark incarnation, and this was something that came out long before anybody even considered redesigns. Maybe she was intended to be that way all along?

I haven't really been paying attention to Pokemon in years. Are any of the OR/AS redesigns as radical as the one Sabrina/Natsume got in HG/SS? The ones I've notice of OR/AS here on Danbooru have seemed to keep a similar basic feel to the originals, whereas Sabrina's HG/SS design didn't share anything other than hair and eye color from her old look.
