    Let's go fishing!

Schultz: "I see. Then I shall accompany you as a boarding party commando."
    Me: "Eh?"
Schultz: "By the way, what kind of boarding tactics do you use in this age?"
    Me: "Eh?"
Schultz: "We should make the operation name Wiking -no, Störtebeker, perhaps?"
    Me: "Eh?"
    Schultz: "Eh?"

Kinda surprising that we didn't have a MP38 tag yet.

Does anyone get the reference here? Klaus Störtebeker is apparently a privateer, but I don't get the connection between Z3 and him, other than that they're both German.

I presume it's more to avoid the name "Operation Wikinger", since that was the operation where both Z1 ("Lebe") and Z3 ("Max") sank, presumably under friendly fire by the Luftwaffe, (although post-war research suggests they may have struck British mines,) which had not been notified of the destroyers going on a mission.

Needless to say, she probably would find that an unlucky name. It may just be that she's going for any other operation name but that one.

I got that part. I just don't get why she thinks a fish trip = piracy.

The ships they were sent to hunt down on Operation Wikinger were British fishing ships in the Dogger Bank (a significant fishing location roughly between England, Germany, Denmark, and Norway) that the Germans suspected of being warships in disguise. Maybe to her, fishing = evil enemy activity, must destroy?

MP-38 has a wooden butt stock, and seeing that Z-3 Machine Pistol has no wooden butt stock, it is the MP-40

Yeah, that must be it. Thanks.

Didn't know that. Thanks for the correction. I just blindly copied the Pixiv tag over. Seems like Danbooru > Pixiv at weapon identification.

Pixiv was right, it's an MP38. The receiver isn't really visible, but the lightening hole in the magazine well is the giveaway (the lighter stamped MP40 magwell didn't have one - the MP40/I did, but with a normally-shaped magwell, this pretty clearly isn't one of those.) I left the tag as MP40, though, since visually they're broadly identical.

The stock isn't a distinguishing factor between the two - MP38s and 40s were both built with folding stocks. The belief that one or both used wood stocks is oddly common, though, for some reason. If I had to guess, it probably stems from the Haenel MP41, which did.
