The image captures a rare moment of meeting between this bunch of lucky battle-weary sailors and one of the many new shipgirls that have started to ply the base and the waters around it. It also presents the reality of the situation, between the somewhat innocent looks of the shipgirl, to the stoic faces of the sailors.
It was later said that the carrier those three sailors were in sank in a fierce battle between the abyss, the final battle of the steel behemoths of the sea, ushering in a new era.
