Most fanart are already refrences to the anime/manga they came from. There really isn't anything to make Kancolle special. The only reason it seems weird or different now is because we were already getting fanart from the game. This is just a small surge. It's going to stop being weird when we get to like episode 5 or something.

I'm not sure, but Poi and Akagi hardly have any right to say that. Poi was saved from the same fate thanks to her drastic change in Kai Ni while Akagi herself wasn't notable because of her look, but more to her fan portrayal and her relationship with Kaga.

Well at least they had SOMETHING eventually. All Fubuki got was an MC tag that didn't get her far.

Really, Poi? Even without her Kai Ni she has a distinctive character (poi) and look. And Akagi has a different appearance from the other carriers, unlike Fubuki who is almost identical to many of her sisters...
