I know it may sound odd in English, but isn't "私はもう沈みたい" more of a "I want to sink already"?

Hmm... with みたい at the end, doesn't it sound more like "Looks like I'm going to sink"?

It's 沈み (from base: 沈む) + たい
    Expressing desire

It's expressing desire. The case firechikara talked about should have て+みたい to means "try to do something" or a noun+みたい for "looks like something".

The problem is with the last line. It literally means "Become happy" but I don't know if they use such grammar in English or not.

    Just for my sake
There's no need for you to perish.
    Be happy.
It seems like I've already started to sink.
