I'd almost asked if this was based on historical lengths. Then I remembered that I-401 was part of a series of larger submarine far bigger than it's predecessors. ( and not having achieved at all due to how late they were completed in the war )

So it's just a bust-chart with random artist preferred character heights. ( an unconventional one at that, most prefer Taigei to be taller than the submarines )

I tend to think there is a bit a charm in any series where the mother figure has at least 1 son/daughter taller than her.
