I agree, that Zun really doesn't care about his own continuity in Touhou. It's been 7 years, since MoF(Mountain of Faith), and none of the human characters, have not aged a bit. Even Akkyu is about 21 years old, and she still looks 10. Reimu should be 26, Marisa should be 25, Sanae should be 27. Youmu, and Sakywa could have a little leeway, seeing that one is half-ghost, half-human & and the other has complete control over time, and space. But the rest of the characters should be well over 21 already.

Doujin artists get enough bullshit with the death threats and all that jazz. ZUN probably just wants to avoid that, chill out and drink his lifetime supply of beer.

Who said that Reimu had to have a kid by her mid twenties? She could still have adventures, even as an adult. Honestly, the Japanese otaku need to get over their moronic ageism, and realize that people do not stay young forever. Think of the amazing possibilities that the series would have, if the characters did age? If you're a gown man, who gets upset over a FICTIONAL female character growing older, getting married, and having kids, then you need to A: feel ashamed of yourself, and B: classify yourself has a social reject, because this is exactly what's killing the Japanese anime, manga, and gaming industry. I don't mind at all if these characters age, and become more adult, that means more interesting things might happen, and so far IMO, the Touhou Project seems to be "static", in terms of progression.

There was palpable fanboy rage on Twitter when ZUN announced he was getting married. How dare he, one of the demigods of otakudom, become a realfag, etc etc.

Sorry to say this but that is not what Touhou is all about ,is not some deep mind blowing story but yea it can be BS bc they don't age just like that if we want to put real life logic, also Sakuya should as well she is not some God of time at all , maybe Gensokyo make humans the ones that live there age slowly ? ,at least it makes more sense right.

Even if people don't expect a "deep story", Zun should at least follow the basic rules of storytelling, and elaborate on his own continuity. I know that the wiki can handle that, but it would be nice to see Zun do some permanent changes to his world, like killing off a character, or adding some compelling drama, or at the very least have to human characters age a bit. Continuity is king, when making a project like this.

At one of her endings in Embodiment of the Scarlet Devil, Reimu breathes in some of the smoke leaving Remilia when the vampire is exposed to the Sun. Remilia quips that breathing that will make Reimu immortal and Reimu at first balks at the idea, but then says "at least give me 20 years". Reimu's youth could have been magically extended right there.

It's well known that magicians can turn into ageless youkai. Marisa's magical research can be slowing her growth.

Youmu:
Half-youkai have very long life-spams. Youmu could remain in that shape for decades, for all we know.

Sanae:
It's a Moriya shrine conspiracy.

Sanae is said to be a living goddess and possible become a real one. It might help in extending her lifespan.

All the "human" characters obviously became youkai at some point without realizing it.

Killing off a character ? what is that, impossible noooo lol but seriously like i said this is Touhou don't expect that at the very least , if you want all of that there many fan comics/mangas for that up to the point changing the characters stories and more. But yea i agree that aging the characters a little bit at least will be more interesting , maybe have some love interest in the opposite sex not look that all are lesbians , it kinda annoys me the massive lack of males and badass ones too.

I don't know why it's so hard to believe that nobody is going to age in touhou. It's not a continuity issue. Eternity and stuff being immortal is kinda touhou's whole deal.
