Bu-otoko is what Jotaro actually calls Avdol during their first meeting at the jail in the original Japanese script. This is usually translated to explain the slang (ugly guy) but then Jolyne made a fuss about it, so went with a somewhat literal interpretation (U Man). It used to be a popular Internet nickname for Avdol with the comic fans that's been fading since the anime came out.
