I don't know who designed this school's gym uniforms, but the thigh high socks are a gift from a perverted god, and he deserves a raise. If only leg warms were still considered cool then train rides would be a whole lot more fun.

Agreed to some extent. In real life though, japanese school uniforms aren't that skimpy... the PE uniform being the exception, but as I understand it, the current trend seems to be separating males from females during PE class.

Back during end of the 90's there was a Japanese porn site I used to frequent that had photos of JAV models posing in school uniforms and buruma.
While I haven't seen any such images in years I recall normal buruma were like short shorts covering at least just a bit of the upper thigh. Also the fabric was a bit more loose and baggy.
Meanwhile buruma seen in current day JAV, hentai and anime are more like panties than short shorts for obvious reasons of titillation. Much shorter to show more thigh meat and tight fitting to highlight the ass and crotch.
