The danbooru wiki entry for Midway Hime refers to her as “a dark reflection of Akagi”, ie- a 'what if' were she to sink. Depending on how you look at it, the implications of this remark becomes increasingly more macabre and unsettling (visually) in this scene. Perhaps even more so, if you're a fan of Akagi x Kaga, like me.

Well look at it this way, Shoukaku. At least you didn't meet Aircraft Carrier Water Oni.

I'm inclined to see her as Kaga (at least in this case), given her rather serious (Kaga-like) demeanor, in how Minarai portrays her...

Those are written by users though, like any Wiki. So the truth depend on which source the data is based off.

Luckily Shoukaku got more aggressive after sinking :)

Technically, if Akagi and Kaga have sunk (as implied that they are these Abyssal's friendly service), shouldn't Shoukaku and Zuikaku be First Carrier Division now?

You're closer than you think... Kaga and Akagi meet Midway and AC Oni (respectively) in the next pages... There's a lot of "you remind me of someone" moments.
