Being a fully fledged fleet carrier that's a DFC is suffering. Note that carrier is literally written as "aviation mothership" in Japanese, or "air mother" when abbreviated. Having those 'assets' is one of the salient traits of being a mother (which is where the hangar jokes are coming from).

Kippenberger may have used the word Doujinshi incorrectly, but he is correct. The anime is about as "Canon" as the Ganbare Fubuki-chan manga or the any of the other mangas and Audio dramas. You think the Negima!? anime is canon? No, the Negima! Manga is canon, the anime was basically an official animated "fan-fiction" with the Okay from Ken Akamatsu. You think any of the Cross over One Piece animations are canon?
Just because something gets animated(or even printed) by the top brass does not make anything magically canon. Otherwise, all those nyantype little side works would mean practically all girls from any series shown in their magazine are automatically Lesbian.

There's a difference between "canon" and "official". The anime is official, but it's not "canon" per se since the original source material is the game. The anime is just one of many interpretations of the source material in the same vein as the official manga and LN's of it.
Usually when something is "official" they aren't "cannon" between each other most of the time. What point would be selling you exactly the same plot into a different presentation? That's what the term "spin off" is for.
If you don't think so, try to explain how all those CN superhero cartoons are "cannon" between all the "official" comics produced since the 40's and the "official" films these franchises produced.
