That's annoying that the comment is being hide just by having one vote down if it doesn't have any vote up. I've seen too many comments being hide when it doesn't have any offense or anything like this inside (what's the offense by saying such thing is cute?). It would have been better to hide only if the comment has -3 or -5.

The default setting is -1. The comment rating threshold is a setting available in your account management; I keep mine at -3 since people so commonly go through and downvote every comment on an image they don't like regardless of what's being discussed. I have a userscript that makes the score show up below the comment too.
