From what I could gather from /toy/, the base model is Masaki Apsy's own Machineca line (which he's apparently been looking to get released for a long while) and Kotobukiya's Busou Shinki series will be using the new bodies as a base. Consider the fact that Masaki Apsy was the designer of the original Busou Shinki base body to begin with, I'm quite hyped as well. At a glance, it's almost an update of the original bodies, down to the new details and reworked gears.
Compatibility with the old figure series might be an issue if Kotobukiya chose to adopt the standard 3mm pegs used everywhere as opposed to Busou Shinki's own 4mm peg design. We'll see more about that once the first batch is released.
The Machineca body will also be used for a new line of figure called Megami Devices which is also being produced by Kotobukiya.
