This is coming from someone with no Mad Max knowledge but since gas IS so invaluable, wouldn't having cars which just guzzle through it be a real status symbol? As in you possess so much of the stuff that you can afford to give zero fucks how much your ride drinks up and be the envy of the desert and all that sort of stuff.
