Funny that kobold here depict as dog-like where else in original myth they more like nasty fairy, and in DnD, more like lizard.
It's just one of those weird translation/conversion things that happen between western and eastern (japan particularly) media. Kind of like how in most Japanese fiction orcs are pig-like beings, rather than... well, the more goblinoid Tolkien or D&D varieties.
