Official US records of the First Naval Battle of Guadalcanal claim the sinking of, and I quote, "a Hibiki DD" and "a Shiguri[sic] DD", referring to the Akatsuki and the Yuudachi respectively. They referred to the Shiratsuyu-class and the Akatsuki-class by the names of the last ships to be lost in those classes.
